The safest comparison begins with exclusions—not flash speed or a promotional price.
Read the complete manual
Safety mechanisms and approved skin tones, hair colours and body areas differ. Instructions for shaving, patch testing, intensity selection, sun exposure and maintenance are model-specific.
Check health and medication exclusions
Some medicines and conditions can increase sensitivity to light or affect healing. Pregnancy and breastfeeding guidance, epilepsy, skin disease, previous cancer, diabetes, implanted devices and recent procedures may be relevant depending on the model. Do not use a generic web checklist to overrule the manual or professional advice.
Never treat unsuitable areas
Avoid eyes and eyelids. Do not flash over tattoos, permanent make-up, dark spots, moles, broken or irritated skin unless the manufacturer explicitly says how those areas must be handled. Intimate-area limits differ by sex and device.
Patch test, then wait
Use the device’s prescribed test area and waiting period. Stop if you experience a reaction beyond the effects described as normal in the instructions.
Sun and aftercare
Recent tanning may make IPL unsafe for some skin tones and devices. Protect treated skin and follow the stated before-and-after exposure window. Avoid adding irritating products or heat immediately after treatment unless the manual permits it.
